Hurley J. Coleman III was born in Saginaw, MI, and raised in Detroit, MI, where he graduated from Communications Media Arts High School in 2001. For his undergraduate studies, he attended Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in August of 2006. In the fall of 2007, Hurley went on to pursue his master's degree at Central Michigan University, where he earned his degree in Administration in May of 2009.
Over the last 15 years, Hurley has excelled in both the business sector and the non-profit sector. From 2008 to 2016, Hurley served as the Facilities Manager and later became the Chief of Staff at the World Outreach Campus Church (Saginaw, MI). He also worked with the Saginaw County Juvenile Justice System as a Regional Coordinator for at-risk youth in the city of Saginaw. In the summer of 2016, he moved to Cincinnati, OH, to work for one of the largest picture frame manufacturers in America, Frame USA. He was responsible for brokering deals with the PGA, NBA, Grand Hotel, Domino's Pizza, and Hilton as the Director of Business Development. He also worked for the Cincinnati Bengals as a game operations and logistics manager.
Due to health complications of his father-in-law, Hurley moved back to Saginaw, MI in 2018. When he moved home, he went to work for Garber Automotive Group, taking on a role in Business Development and Community Outreach. In March 2021, Hurley took on the position as the leader of Saginaw County Community Action Center, becoming the youngest Chief Executive Officer in the 59-year history of the organization. Hurley is responsible for bringing fresh leadership to Saginaw CAC, advocating for the people in Saginaw County through strategic partnerships, new programs and services, and a major component in the Social Services sector of the region. He is responsible for bringing over $2 million dollars to the agency in new programs, services, and grants. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for MIHIA, STARS and serves on advisory committees for Saginaw Community Foundation, and the Consortium of Homeless Prevention Providers in Saginaw County. He is a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
In March 2024, Hurley had an opportunity to sit down with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in a conversation about family, faith, and the economy. This conversation is featured on President Biden's social media outlets, as well as on MSNBC, CNN, Yahoo News, The Washington Post, Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, Michigan Banner, and several local news outlets.
